SNOOP DOGGY 'DOGTOOTH'!

(Alexander McQueen design!)

Okay, okay...you've read this blog post title and thought, "how cheesy!" You can't blame me for trying though. At the end of the day the fashionable trend on topic is referred to as 'dogtooth' or  'houndstooth', so why not use the above alliteration?! Moving on to more important matters!
Dogtooth is the broken, uneven checkered pattern that's making a comeback into this seasons 'to-have-list'. With summer being long gone, we are all looking for garments that not only feel heavier but look heavier as well and yup, you guessed it, dogtooth is the pattern and fabric doing just that. The fabric comes with a texture that is complimentary, giving clothes a bold, structured and sophisticated look. What makes it even more lovable is that you can find it patterned in different sizes and shades/colours, incorporated in a variety of garments and accessories; dresses, coats, short, skirts, socks, shoes, hats, purses, scarfs, pants. I could be here all day listing them. So whatever your pick you will find it in dogtooth and you can gladly check it of your 'to-have-list' this season.

Salvatore Ferragamo Autumn/Winter Collection 2011)

Lady Gaga wearing an outfit from Salvatore Ferregamo's Autumn/Winter Collection 2011. Bang on trend! Her head to toe ensemble was definately inspired by the designer as Gaga added her own saucer shaped hat and bizzare sunglasses to complete her look. Kudos to her for going the extra mile!

I can't possible talk about this eye-catching, two-tone trend without making reference to eclectic fashion designer Alexander McQueen! His couture interpretations of how dogtooth can be incorporated into high fashion designs are truely commendable. One of the many noted fashion designers that can translate crazy into cool!
