‘BLANC DU BLANC’

BLANC DU BLANC
COUTURE AT BRIGHTON CITY COLLEGE
‘Blanc du Blanc’, an electric. Charitable fashion event, organised by City College Brighton, showcased sculptural headpieces and garments, designed and constructed by Level 1 and 2, Art and Design students at the institution.
The fashion pieces showcased on the day, all made entirely of paper and wire, emphasized the level of creativity and professionalism of the students. It is absolutely phenomenal what can be created within 2-4 weeks using such impractical materials in the fashion industry.
The creative design influences included noted hat designer Philip Treacy, whose designs are without a doubt exuberant and boisterous. The students of City College Brighton however are definitely giving Mr Treacy a run for his money! You do not need the catwalks of Milan or Paris to experience couture high fashion as these teens have proved.
This event puts City College Brighton on the map as an institution that continously produces innovative, professional and diligent indivuduals. Principal Phil Frier stated that,
‘The show is a testiment to their hard work!’’ (Phil Frier, 2010)
Congradulations to all the participating student for putting on a great show, for a great cause, and also to Chestnut Tree House Childrens Hospice for all their hard work providing charitable services to needy children and their families. Designers of Blanc du Blanc 2010, well done!!
